Dodford Priory Cell

Founded as Priory of the Blessed Virgin Mary 1184-6.  Initially of Augustinian Canons.  Thence under Halesowen’s eye.

By 1464 there had only been 1 canon there for a long time, and the priory was annexed to Halesowen.  A Halesowen canon then became prior with the task of keeping church, refectory and other buildings in repair.

Surrendered 1538.  Income c. 1585:  £24  (KNOWLES)
