He (Serlo 1)gave the Gomme, his aunt and godmother, Depedale and the hermitages and the land 'between the lane that extends from the North gate of Boyha towards the west as far as le Cockeysithe and *Brunsbroc.  A field above the church is called Cockshot, the farmhouse E. of the Malthouse is Burnwood, and the brook through Ockbrook is called Barnes' brook (WARD).

*A 13th century charter says Brunesbroc is between Kirk Hallam Park and Stanley Park (CLARK).

He instigated the first and second attempts to found Depedale Priory (C40, CLARK), in the time of Henry II (DUGDALE), importing the Augustinian and then the Tupholm canons (C40, CLARK, WHITE, DUGDALE, LYSONS).

Gave the Priory Thakkemore, but retained Boyah.

Serlo II gave Dale Abbey all his lands in Ockbrook, including Boyah, where the canons were to have a grange on the site of the de Grendons' house (C40F).
He died in the 1120s (C/WC).
