The manor of Charlton was listed among the alien houses in 1294, when it was under a prior

1294 value:  over £25 10s

Still a prior in 1323, but a custos in 1324;  1380 Charlton was alienated to the Hospital of St Katherine by the Tower   (KNOWLES)
