buildings are 19th century, but a long row of cottages nearby dates to the 17th century. A mysterious grange which has a history sounding rather like that of Littlehay Grange, is Southome Grange, also granted to Francis Pole at the dissolution and taken by Thomas Stanhope in 1562: if this is not to be identified with Littlehay, its site is unknown. The mystery is compounded by mention in the Morley register of 4th August 1608 of a Southridg [sic] Grange, and a further mention in 1644 of a Southwood Grange with eight fireplaces; the latter is also mentioned in a will dated 1733.
