Hugh de Lincoln  ruled 14 3/4 years from *August 1253 to May *1267(WARD) *1251 to 1265 (M) *1268 (H83, PAGE)
 
1260 bailed out Ralph de Halum who owed 12 marks to the Jews (H83);  agreement that if the 12 marks were paid by St Martin’s Day, the lands at Kirk Hallam enfeoffed to the abbey would return to him without dispute (C41).
 
13th century grants by Hugh de Ferrars of lands to the abbey of Park Stanley;

Pentecost.  Cecily, daughter and heiress of Hugh de Ferrars, in her widowhood, grants and confirms to God and the church of St Mary of Park Stanley, and the Canons of the Premonstratensian Order there serving, all the gift which William son of Robert Ingram of Nottingham made to the Canons in the territory of Bracington, Mersinton, and Hopton in frank-mayne.  Witness M. Thomas de Ferrars, her uncle, and others.

William de Ferrars, Earl of Derby, grants to William de Grendofree 40 acres of land in the territory of Bracington;  impeximus and confirmation by Robert de Ferrars, son and heir of William de Ferrars, formerly Earl of Derby, of the above-mentioned deed by Cicely [sic], daughter and heir of Hugh de Ferrars.
Fine round red seal (on the document), 2½ “ in diameter, arms of Ferrars on one side, and on the reverse a horseman with the horse trappings ornamented with the like arms (COX18, quoting Historical MSS commissioners’ 9th report, p. 403;  MSS belonged to Henry Chandos Pole-Gell of Hopton Hall).   
 
1263 (47 Henry III (COX18)) Robert de Ferrars issued a charter taking the Abbey under his protection.

Received a gift of 20 Sherwood Forest oaks from Henry III.
 
1264 The King also granted his simple protection (C41) until the next Michaelmas (COX18, C41E).

Dale Abbey paid a rent of 10s to the Abbot of Croxton Abbey (Leics.) (C43).
