Yet More Granges!
Gosewonge Grange

At Bathley near Newark. The present grange is a modern building incorporating bits of the old.

Owned by Dale Abbey in the 13th century.

In 1553 it was granted to Thomas Farneham and Thomas Morrison, with a tenant called William Bassett.

In 1581 it was owned by John Smythe.
Ambaston Grange

None of the present buildings is earlier than the 19th century.

Mentioned in 1432.

Half of John Stanley's pension in 1491 was 10 marks from Alvaston Grange.

In 1547 it was in the possession of Henry Needham and William Sacheverell, one of the stewards of the Abbey site, who died in 1557.  The grange then passed to the Allestrees and Borrows (C39GM).
